Well, we found out last Friday that it could be mid-April now before we can travel to Hong Kong to pick up Laiya. We are still waiting for the legal documents to arrive from Hong Kong. Then they need to be sent to Lansing for approval and then on to Immigration. Next they go back to Hong Kong where they will complete her passport and issue her a Visa to enter the US. Immigration here usually takes about 4 weeks, and then in Hong Kong it usually takes about 4 weeks. At least now we are able to communicate with her. We have sent a couple small gifts and we write her through email. Laiya's social worker prints the emails and meets with her to read them and talk about them. We are really hoping to have her home by her birthday which is April 3. It could happen, but everything needs to fall right in place. Please continue to pray for Laiya as she adjusts to the idea of leaving everything she knows to join her new family here in the U.S. Thanks!

I'm sorry about the delays ... we'll be praying she's here before her birthday. Once again you're in God's waiting room. Remember He is faithful! Love, Char
Marva,
Are you able to get a fax of the legal documents, use those, and then when you have the originals forward those, if needed? It seems we were able to send a faxed copy of legals then follow up with originals.
Either way, April will still be a wonderful time to visit Hong Kong.
When I saw your email I was so excited to hear the news. Sorry it wasn't what I thought it might be, but at least now you are seeing the wheels turning and with each turn they are coming closer to you. We'll keep on praying that the day comes soon. Blessings, Barb
Marva,
This waiting room stuff is so hard - but we will continue to pray that all will go well for getting your new daughter home.
Love,
Ruth
I'm glad to hear that you're able to communicate with Laiya. At least you have that. We'll continue to pray for speediness!
Dave, Marva and the rest of the family,
We will keep Laiya in our prayers that she will have a smooth transition to living in America and adjusting to her new home. I think it would be the best birthday present ever to be with her new family in April.

Thanks for the update on Laiya. Sorry to hear that her arrival seems delayed but I'm so glad you can communicate with her and send her things. How exciting this must be for her! I'll pray for no more delays. God is in control.
My thoughts & prayers are with you all. Please try to enjoy your vacation and relax (do you know what that is Marva?) before you become full time parents again! When Laiya gets here the time you had to wait will seem like it was minimal compared to what you have ahead of you with her! Keep smiling
Praying for Laiya's homecoming to be revealed in God's good timing... We know how it feels to be waiting, waiting, waiting! Laiya is being well cared for, and for that we can be grateful! Keep us posted!
Dear Dave and Marva, We continue to pray for you all. We hope that this time of waiting will be part of the transition for all of you to feel like family as soon as you can pick her up. Hope the paper work goes smoothly and in the time you anticipate. Love from Jack and Linda
Dear Dave and Marva,
We are sorry about the slowness of the process but try to rest in the fact that God is control of the times. We are excited for you that you are being given this opportunity to welcome another child into your loving arms!
Love,
Fred and Joyce
Marva,
I think adoption 'pregnancies' are the hardest. Thankfully, they also come to an end with a beautiful new beginning! We are praying that things go quickly for you!
