Lunch at McDonalds while we were shopping (good 'ol American food!)
Laiya typing an email to her brothers and sisters - - -
I can't believe that we leave for home in the a.m. (we leave the hotel at 5:30!). What a week it has been! Laiya slept until 9:30 this a.m. Then we headed to a nice shopping area and she actually let us buy her some new clothes - no skirts or shoes though. She wore skirts to school every day (uniforms) and says she has tennis shoes and boots - not sure how those will look with the shorts she got today, but . . . We also bought a Chinese video and a CD for Laiya, and a couple DVD's for the grand kids that can be in English or Cantonese. We had lunch at McDonalds and then spent a little time by the pool. After that we headed to the Ladies Market (not sure why it's called that) in Mong Kok - oh, such bargains! I had so much fun - I even found some craft supplies! That was a nice long walk there and back - we are certainly walking more than we do at home! When we got back, Laiya typed an email to her brothers and sisters. She did it all by herself and sent it before I could even read it. We then packed up all our belongings so we'll be ready in the morning and then we went downstairs and had dinner. It's fun to watch Laiya's face - she spotted "wanton with noodles" and quickly pointed at it and said "yes?". We are trying to get her to do her own talking so she just opened the menu and pointed to it. When the waiter said "wanton with noodles?" she quietly said "yes". As I am typing, she is on the phone with her social worker. She is being told that she cannot have contact with her friends or foster family for 6 months, unless she sends an email to her social worker, who will approve it and then send it on to her friend. She is not very happy about this, but they want her to focus on her new life in the US. Well, this is my last blog from Hong Kong - can't believe we'll be home tomorrow!! Laiya says she is ready to leave Hong Kong and to start her new life and to be 'American'. Please pray for safe travels and that our flights will be on time!

Your updates have been such a blessing to read. You have encouraged us in our dream of bringing our own child(ren) home to their forever family. In fact, we have an appointment at Adoption Associates this afternoon. Praying for your safe return home and God's blessings for you all.
