We were thrilled to receive an update on Laiya, along with another letter from her and a copy of her report card! She recently took her exams and scored an "A" in all subjects except for Computer Literacy, where she received a "B". She is 4th in her class of 38 students. Her social worker said that Laiya is prepared for the adoption. She has arranged to meet with an English-speaking volunteer "for the purpose of providing her with more encouragement and opportunity to use the English language." She wrote in her letter that she will continue to work harder on her studies and also said "I look forward to meeting you all." She wished us a "happy Chinese New Year of the Pig" and a happy Valentine's Day. Because they are 13 hours ahead of us, we received it on the 15th and she wrote it on the 16th. Needless to say, we get so excited to hear from her - we are like little kids at Christmas time! Thanks, again, for all your prayers.
